Crescătoria ,,Alex’s hedgies” este singura crescătorie de arici cu pedigree din România.

Aricii sunt aduși din Germania și vin din linii sănătoase și verificate. Certificatul pedigree atestă că, din punct de vedere genetic, ariciul este sănătos.

Alex’s hedgies is a kennel for hedgehogs. Here we breed pedigreed hedgehogs and we’re the only ones in Romania to do so.

My hedgehogs have been imported from Germany from a known kennel and are from recorded lines. Both them and their ancestors have participated in expositions and have been carefully supervised and checked for any illnesses thus proving that they are both healthy and balanced babies.

About us/ Despre noi

We’re a small kennel in Bucharest, Romania and this is the only Romanian kennel that has pedigrees.

I got my first hedgehog back in 2022 and have completely fallen in love with this species. I did roughly 2 years of research before getting one and another 2 years before becoming a breeder. I’ve researched websites, spoken with breeders and owners, discussed with multiple exotic vets and put my own experience to good use.

The wish for breeding started when I first found out just how important pedigrees are. There’s a genetic disease called WHS (Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome) that is caused by unethical breeding and incest. With a pedigree you can make sure your hedgehogs are not related and will have healthy hoglets.

I still have a lot to learn but I am well equipped to breed and teach future owners about hedgehogs.

I am currently breeding Algerian/Umbrous hedgehogs but will get to White-bellied as well.
